The 1930's brought hard times, so the Civilian Conservation Corps proposed 20 camps with 225 men each to build roads and fight blister rust in our forests. 

This area is now covered with water from the Dworshak Dam. The bridge over the North Fork of the Clearwater River at Benton Creek.

This photo was taken in July of 1935. The crew was working on the road coming off the bridge over the North Fork of the Clearwater River at Benton Creek. It is now under water behind Dworshak Dam.

Headquarters, Idaho where enrollees lived, August 1935. A crew still works out of Headquarters in the summer months, clearing fire trails mostly.

Looking up the Clearwater River in the early 1920s where the North Fork of the Clearwater River empties into the Clearwater. Lewis and Clark Expedition came down through here and camped while making the 5 dugout canoes.

They were fishing in Orofino Creek in 1908 at the Main Street Bridge in Orofino, Idaho and they are still fishing today!

Blake, Idaho's post office, located on today's Harmony Heights. E.W. Blake homesteaded about 1895 on section 11, township 36, Shoshone County, Idaho. Mr. Blake donated a parcel of land for a school for the numerous children living in the area.

This was Clearwater Timber Protective Association, Palouse district buildings at Headquarters, Idaho. They were built in 1922, burned in 1925, and were rebuilt.
